Resources and Subsidy

After a child is diagnosed with cancer, hospitals will assist families in applying for a Catastrophic Illness Certificate, allowing treatment costs to be covered under Taiwan’s National Health Insurance program. Families are also encouraged to make use of available financial resources—such as medical or student insurance and personal savings—to help cover related expenses throughout the course of treatment.

Childhood cancer treatment is a long-term journey. Some chemotherapy medications may not be fully covered by insurance, requiring partial out-of-pocket expenses. In many cases, one parent must leave work to care for the child, reducing household income significantly. For single-parent families, the financial strain can be even greater.

To help families overcome these challenges and complete treatment smoothly, the Childhood Cancer Foundation provides comprehensive financial assistance programs, including support for medical care, medication, daily living expenses, and emergency needs.
